I'm Candace, a 50-something wife, momma, former school teacher, and current Bible teacher.
I grew up in a Christian home with lots of love, but quickly found out this doesn't guarantee any type of fruitful walk with God. In fact, in some ways it makes it a little harder.
In recent years, as my passion for God's word has grown, I have often been asked - how I study, what I study, and if I would be willing to share what I have learned? I try to approach teaching others from a position of, "If I can do this ANYONE can do this." However, there are some foundational truths we need to recognize in order to study well.
The goal in our Christian walk is to learn to recognize the voice of your Father so we can grow closer to Him. He whispers, and I have learned that I need to tune my ears ever so carefully to hear what He has to say. The payoff is when I learn to recognize the voice of my Heavenly Father and how He speaks I also know how He doesn't speak. The place to begin to learn to recognize His voice is in the book He, through the Holy Spirit, has already written. A love letter to you if you will. A tangible book of all the effort He has gone through just to have a relationship with you.
This one thing I know, walking with God, and I mean so closely I sometimes get tangled up in His robe, starts with Bible reading. There are no short-cuts. It is a day-in, day-out slow steady pursuit of relationship with Him. But, I'll tell you this...you will never regret it. He will always meet you where you are.
So jump in my friend! The path is not hard, but the journey may be a challenge. (What relationship worth having isn't?) Grab your Bible and join me as we begin the process to become Planted in the Word.
